Are envelopes recyclable?

Yes, paper envelopes are recyclable and can be placed in your household recycling bin/box to be collected by your local council.

Can you recycle envelopes with plastic windows?

Envelopes with windows can be recycled in the UK depending on your local authority (very few do not accept envelopes with windows). Can envelopes with stamps be recycled?

Yes, envelopes with paper stamps can be recycled without having to remove them from the envelope. You can simply pop them in your recycling bin.

Can envelopes with bubble wrap be recycled?

Envelopes with bubble wrap such as padded envelopes, jiffy bags or bubble bags cannot be recycled due to them being made of multiple materials (paper, plastic & other materials).

An alternative to traditional padded envelopes that contain plastic is our new range of Flutelopes and Combelopes which are a 100% environmentally friendly and biodegradable padded envelope.

Can envelopes be reused?

The majority of envelopes cannot be re-used to send through the mail due to the seal being broken. However, you can re-use them for other purposes such as storing letters or other objects that fit inside and close them shut with an adhesive glue or sellotape. Envelopes such as string and washer can be re-used as they are tied shut with string.
